Anna Green
Anna Green is currently co-principal viola of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. She has also toured and recorded with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hallé, Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Orchestra of Opera North.
As a soloist, Anna has received the Cecil Aronowitz prize and the Rachel Godlee Viola Prize. She also gained first prize in University of Manchester’s Procter Gregg Recital Awards. As a solo violinist, Anna has performed the Berg Violin Concerto.
Within the specialism of chamber music, Anna was a founder member of the ‘Zhang Quartet’. With this ensemble she gained the Terence Weil Prize, and also the John Barbirolli Prize.
Anna was principal viola of the European Union Youth Orchestra, and played the solo part for Britten’s War Requiem while there. She was the recipient of a Chairman’s Award for her contributions to this orchestra.
Anna studied at both the Royal Northern College of Music and the University of Manchester gaining a First Class BMus (Hons) and GRNCM. During this time she was principal viola in the RNCM orchestras, and won the RNCM’s Viola competition.
